Scary-Me a Piano Teacher
I started teaching piano lessons. It's only to one girl so far. It's still scary. I never thought I would be in this situation. I just hope that I meet her expectations and vice versa. It should be interesting!

Giving Thanks
The other night I was thinking about the ladies in my ward who I look up to. I thought this would be a great place to give thanks to them. (no particular order of gratefulness)
-Shelly Reasch was a young women's leader for the latter part of my high school years. She taught me so much about patience (dealing with so much drama from us), unconditional love, a testimony of the gospel, and so much more. She truly helped me gain my own testimony.
-Kathy White is so humble. She always has a ready compliment to give, but I've noticed has a hard time taking them herself. :) If she is accompanying anyone fromt he piano, she makes them sound so much better than they ever possibly could on their own. She always has a hug and a smile for me.
-Marla Leithead is very willing to serve wherever needed. I mostly remember her being the pianist for for our ward's primary. She has the patience of Job, which I was reminded of a few weeks ago when I played in primary. Whenever I think of her the words "quiet reassurance" come to mind. She always has this way about her of being confident without overbearance.
-Karen Christiansen was also a young women's leader for a long time. I mostly remember her lessons being fun, yet spiritual. We had a large class and she always helped us feel the spirit.
There are so many more, but these are the ones that I am truly grateful for this year. Without them I wouldn't be the person I am today. So, thank you, ladies. I love you.

I met Michael Phelps!
That's right. I met Michael Phelps! So, it was in a dream, but it still happened. In my dream I was working in the fabric store here in town during a remodel. He and a friend came in to use the computers that were available. In the dream, he told me about how he learned to pray and that he was excited to go to BYU-Idaho. Yup, it's all true. In my dream I remember thinking that I would have something to blog about, so here it is!

5. I got addicted to Cod Red on my mission (a member family always gave it to us)
6. I never flew on a plane until I was 20
7. My fingernails peel off in layers
8. My hair never does what I want it to
9. I have the 4 cutest neices in the world
10. And the cutest nephew, with one on the way
11. My favorite thing to do is watch children play
12. Next favorite thing to do is sleep
13. If I ever have free time, I love to read
14. I probably read an average of 8 books a month
15. I've had over 50 roommates
16. Most of those were while I lived in Utah
17. I have lived in 3 states for the majority of my life: ID-6yrs; UT-6yrs; WY-18 yrs
18. I am a BYU baby
19. I have never left the country
20. Except on a ferry to an island in Canada, but I was only there for about 3 hours
21. It's hard for me to trust people enough to tell them my deepest thoughts and feelings
22. My mom doesn't even know my deepest thoughts and feelings, and she is the person I trust the most
23. I think I would FREAK out if a boy ever showed interest in me
24. I don't know how to be anything but a friend to guys
25. And even then, I don't really trust them to not hurt me
26. I think this stems from being a girl in a family largely made of guys
27. All of these guys I grew up with are excellent men, husbands, and fathers today

36. I have quit 2 jobs because of cranky women bosses

38. I have owned 3 cars in my lifetime
39. I will never buy a brand-new car again, unless it is a Honda or Toyota
40. I've had my current car, a Toyota Corolla, for the longest (almost 5 years)
41. I have never been in the Atlantic Ocean
42. But I have been in the Pacific Ocean more times than I can remember
43. I love to visit Seattle
44. Especially Pike's Market downtown Seattle

Catch Up

Whitney...again.I can't believe that I it's been almost 3 weeks since I last blogged. A lot has happened since then. Especially at work. Kids say the darndest things. I had a 1st grader ask if I took a shower one morning. Another day, I was sitting with a Kindergardner. She looked at me and said, "You look fat today." I told her it may be because she had her glasses on. She took them off, looked at me again, and said, "Nope, you're still fat." Wow.
Last weekend I went to Gillette to visit my brother and his family. My mom went with me. More like I kidnapped her and forced her to go. :) We had a good time.
Only one more week before I take the GRE. Wish me luck. It's on Saturday morning. It will be nice to have it done so I can figure out if I can get into some of the programs I've been looking at.

Work, cough, work, cough
This week was my first full week at my new job. It's been fun. I'm never anywhere longer than 1/2 hour, so I don't get bored. I'm really glad that it's been a part-time job, especially this week. I have had a cold for almost two weeks now and I'm mostly in just the coughing stage. I feel bad because my mom is even worse. Unfortunately, she mostly coughs when she goes to bed, which makes it hard for her to rest and recoup. I would LOVE it if we were all healthy again. My nieces have it, too. It probably doesn't help that we all are around each other a lot and keep sharing germs. They are just too darn cute not to be around, though.

Controlled Chaos...I wish
The past week as hase been chaotic, to say the least. I wish it was controlled, but it hasn't been. The funeral for dad was on Wednesday. Many family members came into town. They came from Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Minnesota. It was great to have so much support. I'm just glad everything is over, for the most part. Now just the financial junk to take care of and all of the thank you cards. Today was my first day back at work. I caught a nasty cold in the whole process. Today I don't have much of a voice. I feel much better, though. The funeral went well, or so I'm told. My brother Erik did the life history. My dad's friend Jack gave a talk. My brothers Mike and Bryan and I did most of the music. It was a tough day. Every night since he died I think I'm going to wake up and it will all be a dream. No such luck. Thanks for all of your support.

Time Passing By
My father passed away today. My heart aches in so many ways right now I don't even know how to explain it. Anger, fear, love, regret, hurt...so much. I didn't know how many feelings I could possibly feel in one evening. And it's only begun. As much as he aggrivated me sometimes, I already miss him. Tears will continue to be shed for all that could have been. I'm sorry I didn't tell him I love him more often. I'm sorry for being impatient. I'm sorry for so many things. I just hope he understands and will forgive me for my shortcomings. I love you, Dad.

Working Woman
I started work at my new job today. I am an aid for special education at an elementary school about 5 miles from home. It's only part-time, but better than no-time. I was also asked to head up a tutoring program at a middle school...it's called the homework club. I'm actually getting paid more for that than the aid position. I'm just grateful to have some sort of income. It was a tiring day. I'm ready for bed. But, I must get going on studying for the GRE. Bah humbug.
Last week I went and visited my brother Bryan and his family who live 4 hours away. I would love to upload some pictures of the kids, but I am still unpacking some things. I'll try to do it next time.

Home
Well, I am officially home. I really haven't unpacked yet. I've been busy grouting tile for my brother and mom. My arm is so sore! One was a floor, which I thought was tough. Then I did my mom's shower. Wow, I think I would rather do 3 floors any day over one shower. What a mess! Good experience, though, right?
It's good to be home. I love seeing the neices more often. They are just so darn cute! I'll go visit the ones a few hours away next week.
The job search continues. I have applied for about 4 or 5 jobs and am keeping my open for more.
I miss Rexburg. I miss having my couch to sleep on. This bed at home doesn't like me very much. I woke up continuously last night because my back hurt so much.
By the way, I am COMPLETELY done with my degree. I got an email yesterday stating so. I got an A- in my statistics class. I can't believe that I am actually done....for now. I've been studying for the GRE. What a bummer, eh?
